Our Farm

O’Connell’s Family Farm is located on land owned and farmed by the O’Connells since the late 1800′s.  It is currently owned and run by Randy O’Connell and Shelley O’Connell and their family.

Considered a 3rd generation O’Connell farm, Randy’s grandfather, Harry, operated a mixed farm milking a few cows for milk and cream.  He could be seen peddling eggs and vegetables to Truro every Friday.

Randy’s father, Donald, took over the farm in 1971 operating primarily a dairy farm.  Due to poor health, Donald replaced the dairy herd in 1988 with a small beef herd.  All the while Randy worked alongside doing what he could at various ages.

In 1989 Randy and Shelley took over operations of the farm.

  • Stewiacke Valley Farmer’s Market

    The Stewiacke Valley Farmer's Market is held every Saturday morning June 5th - October 9th from 8-12 am at O'Connell's Family Farm (closed Oct. 2nd). A small market with a large selection, you will find fresh produce, fresh and frozen meat, baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles, fudge, honey, maple products, feta cheese, Jost wines, blueberry juice, framed photography, handmade greeting cards, local art, knitting, crocheting, sewing and other unique handcrafts!!!

    We now offer fresh and frozen beef. Fresh beef is now available daily including:
